Tagum City, the capital of the Davao Province, takes pride as one the most viable and most competitive business site. As a first class city, Tagum is the seat of the Davao Province with the largest share and highest growth of investments.
Likewise, the city is a top exporter of banana (cavindish and cardava) including banana chips and other related products. Wood based, metal and agri-based industries are also vital in the city's booming economy.
Under the administration and leadership of the Honorable Mayor Rey T. Uy and with the support of the City of Tagum Legislative Council presided by the Honorable Vice Mayor Allan L. Rellon, the City of Tagum has trained youth music artists through a special program that consists of continuing music workshops focused on skills enhancement on musical intruments playing and culminates in annual music recitals. To date, there are more than 1,300 graduates of the year-long annual music workshops.
Moreover, the City Mayor provided support for the acquisition and enhancement of the musical instruments used by the various Drum Bugle and Lyre Corps and Marching Bands based in more than twenty (20) public elementary and secondary schools in the city.
Located in the juncture of the south eastern route of the Daang Maharlika in Mindanao, Tagum City is strategically a significant hub where all passenger buses and jeepneys from Northern Mindanao going to Davao City or from Davao City to any point in Eastern and Northeastern Mindanao pass by. There are also taxis or vans plying from Davao City to Tagum City in approximately one-and-a-half hour journey.

A. BY PLANE
The Davao International Airport has daily flights to and from major cities in the Philippines and weekly flights to Singapore and Manado, Indonesia. The airport is an hour ride from Tagum City. Upon arrival at the airport, metered taxicabs are available and flag down rate is P30 for units with aircon ( P26 for units without aircon. ) Minimum fare for a public utility vehicle is P7.00. The taxicabs or PUBs will take you to the bus terminals located at Ecoland, Davao City and from there different kinds of buses will take you safe to Tagum City. The fare is P90.00 for aircons and P76.00 for non-aircon buses.
B. BY SEA
Superferry will bring you to Davao Sasa Wharf safely with its three times a week trip if you are from Manila. When you leave Manila on Monday you will reach Davao by Wednesday and if you leave Wednesday you will arrive on Friday and if its Saturday you will reach Davao by Monday. You can check their schedules at superferry.
If you’re from Cebu City, the trip is only once a week, the departure is Sunday and you will arrive Davao on Monday.
If youre from Iloilo City, the departure is every Thursday and the arrival is Friday and if you’re from Zamboanga City the departure is every Tuesday and the arrival is Wednesday.
C. BY LAND
Tagum City can be reached by land boarding Philtranco Bus from Pasay City via Bicol Region then to Samar, Leyte. From Leyte the bus will board a ferry boat to Surigao City then to Butuan City, San Francisco Agusan del Sur and in a few hours you will reach Tagum City. It took you three days to reach Tagum by land but you will enjoy the scenic views of the Philippine Island from Metro Manila to Visayas and Mindanao.

Tagumeños dress codes are normally very casual. Light clothing is most comfortable. Lightweight clothing of natural fiber is recommended. Informal clothing is acceptable almost everywhere except when visiting a church or mosque. For formal occasions, the traditional barong tagalog is recommended. Most establishments such as bars, offices, restaurants don’t impose dress codes strictly and consider wearing shorts, slippers, and sleeveless shirts.
Tagum City is generally peaceful. Police officers are roving around the city every now and then. The City Government provided them with new light vehicles to completely monitor the peace & order situation. Barangay Tanods support the police officers in maintaining peace & order and immediately respond to any emergencies. The City Government also designates civil security guards in public places like parks & plaza, trade centers and in the night markets to ensure the safety of the bystanders, local and international tourists, bar hoppers and night owls and crawlers.
There is an existing No- Smoking Ordinance in the City. Smoking is prohibited inside public utility vehicles, government offices, hospitals, and churches. In hotels, bars and restaurants, smoking is allowed only in designated areas where the only activity being done is smoking.
Most government offices operate Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m to 12 and 1:00 to 5:00 pm except for frontline service agencies that need to operate 24 hours a day. Most banks open from 9 a.m. to 3 pm and some local banks have branches that operate 7 days a week. ATM booths are visible in shopping malls, bank lobbies and Food Center.
Night market starts at 6:00pm til 2:00am, it is located at the heart of the city, between Bonifacio, Quezon & Osmeña Streets. Barbecues, balot, quik-quik and other Tagum delicacies will surely fill your hunger.

Durian Festival sa Tagum City |
|
A month-long showcase of the delectable fresh durian fruit grown in the city and in the neighboring towns. It also puts on center stage the baking of delicacies, cakes and pastries having durian as its main ingredient eventually branding it as the Tagum-made food products for pasalubong.
Tagum City Float portrays the abundance of the Durian Fruit as its major product, which gave birth to Durian Festival celebrated on its peak month (August-September). |

The City Tourism Council had initiated another festival this coming month of July designed for all the gays from any point in Mindanao. This will be the first time here in Tagum City that the gays will be the stars for the whole week and this was hailed as the Binuhat Festival that will be staged on July 23 up to 27 this year.
Binuhat Festival is one of the festivals being prepared thoroughly since the start of the year in order to give enjoyment to the people and the opportunity to the gays to show their talents and skills in all sort of activities prepared for them.

An annual Christmas Festival Celebration for Tagumeños. It features ten (10) nights of Christmas presentations with TV and movie celebrities from Manila are joining with the local talents for celebration. It is an annual Pamaskong Handog of Mayor Rey T. Uy to all constituents. Other featured sceneries during the celebration is the lighting of the Giant Christmas Tree.
