5th Summer Sports Festival Opens with a Bang

The 5th Summer Sports Festival opens on May 15 at Rotary Park with a motorcade in the major thoroughfares of Tagum fully participated by hundreds of players all-over Mindanao (Davao City, Davao del Norte Province, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley Province, General Santos City, Surigao City, and Agusan del Sur) in a (16) sports event, to wit; Dart, Relay Marathon, Softball, Lawn Tennis, Taekwondo, Karatedo, Beach Volleyball, Circuit Racing, Bowling, Football, Badminton, Sepak Takraw, Dog Agility Show, 3 on 3 Basketball, Cycling and the newest game - Arnis.

On top of the event, thousands of cash prizes, trophies, medals and certificates will be awarded to the winners. The Mindanao-wide competition will run on May 15 to 23 is a joint effort of the City Government of Tagum headed by Chairman City Sports Action Officer Hon.De Carlo Uy in partnership with City Tourism Council led by its Chair Alma Uy in coordination with the Tagum City Federation of Sports Association, Inc. under the leadership of Col. Palawan Macadingdang (Ret) in the promotion of wellness, self-discipline, teamwork and camaraderie among sports enthusiasts.
 
During the opening ceremony, Alma Uy states the intelligent stand of various sports enthusiasts, “Throughout the year, our enthusiasts from extreme sports to mind-boggling games, the city government willingly give its share to inspire our athletes,” says Alma Uy during his welcome speech.
 
All players took their Oath of Sportsmanship and followed with the releasing of balloons symbolizing the opening of the 5th Summer Sports Festival 2010.

5th Summer Sports Festival opens on May 15 at the open field of Rotary Park in this city with a motorcade around the major main road of the city fully participated by hundreds of players’ all-over Mindanao (in the center) together with the Chairman’s of the different sports (center below). On the right side City of Tagum Tourism Council Chair Ms. Alma Uy welcomes the hundred participants (on the left side) while City Federation of Sports Association, Inc. President Col. Palawan Macadingdang (Ret) who declared the 5th Summer Sports Festival open.
