Tagum City conducts congress for pregnant women

The City Government of Tagum thru the City Nutrition Committee celebrates the 36th Nutrition Month in coordination with the National Nutrition Council – Department of Health with theme “Sa pagkaing tama at sapat wastong timbang ni baby ang katapat!” Picture is taken during the pregnant womens doing warn-up strecthing exercises before the “Buntis Congress” program starts
With this, one of the events during the week-long celebration is the “Buntis Congress” in which thirty four (34) PREGNANT mothers aging twenty (20) years old below coming from twenty three (23) Barangay’s in Tagum City gathered at a mall to listen to lectures on nutrition and healthcare at the Buntis Congress. Different lecture was made as follow; lecture on pregnancy preparations; importance of pre-natal check-up and on breast feeding, comprehensive information drive on fertility awareness, respect for life, birth spacing, birth control methods, and responsible parenthood. The gathering also gave priority to the needs of expectant mothers and tackled maternal death issues and childbirth-related concerns. City Nutrition Action Officer Hon. Joedel Caasi said the Buntis Congress has been effectively meeting the needs of pregnant women that it is now being eyed by the Department of Health as one of the best practices of the city government. Caasi added that the city health department will also hold education, medical care, and advocacy programs to promote the welfare of pregnant women in the city.
