Durian Festival promotes Tagum City as the City of Durian. It showcase the talents of the Hotel Restaurant Management (HRM) and Culinary Arts students during the competition and provides an avenue for the local growers to sell durian fruit and their by products.

(DILG) and the Local Governance Support Program for Local Economic Development
(LGSP-LED) as one of the resource speakers at the Forum on Local Government

Durian Festival 2010 winner of Waiter’s Relay Competition wherein each team competes in the best table setting coupled with their best uniformed appearance of appropriate apparel such as chef uniform in coat, pants, hat, apron, and shoes. The correct placement of entrée has to be observed with the folding of napkins closely resemble with that of Bishop’s Hat.

Durian Festival 2010 winner of
Plated Durian Dessert Competition held on August 15 at Tagum Cultural and Trade
Center wherein each team chose the theme of their own Durian recipe dessert in
a small geometric shape white plate adjudged in the criteria of adherence to
the imposed size restrictions, interior and exterior appearance of the actual
dessert, flavor and textures of the individual components, balance of the
flavor, and the degree of difficulty.

Tagum City - A
traditional Pilipino ceremony took place last August 12, 2010 in Barangay
Apokon, Tagum City,
Davao del Norte, Mindanao, Philippines. It was the Cutting of
Ribbon and Blessing of the Neurosurgery and OB-Gyne
Building located at Davao Regional
Hospital (DRH) and Groundbreaking of Cancer Center in Mindanao
(a two hectares land donated by the City Government of Tagum) located also in
the same area.

Aside from being national winners in the academic and co-curricular competitions, Tagum City teachers boost themselves as culinary enthusiasts who can prepare dishes which are palatable and nutritious and can be at par with those from other regions as Teachers Nora J. Reyla and Ali T. Bermudez from Apokon Elementary School, Tagum City joined the Regional Winners for Keso de Gallo with their entry MOSACABLOS CON KESO SHAO MAI coined from the ingredients Moringga (Malunggay, Saluyot, Carrots & Banana Blossom).

Tagum City Gays Association, Inc. (TCGAI) a long established gay civic organization and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) registered is extending its community service to mothers and adults of Barangay Madaum under Project: G.I.V.E or (Gays In Giving Education). This is in coordination with the City Government of Tagum, Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Tagum City and Alternative Learning System (ALS).

The Tagum City Task Force Lawa-Lawa (cobwebs) headed by Local Chief Executive Mayor Rey T. Uy, in coordination with the City Engineering Office of Electrical Section led by Engr. Constancio M. Alban, with the assistance of Davao Del Norte Electric Cooperative (DANECO) personnel, have jointly removed all cables and telephone wires in violation of public safety strengthened by Executive Order (EO) No. 26-2009 known as "Task Force Lawa-Lawa to Streamline Cable/Telephone/Electric Posts and Wiring Installation/Connection in the City of Tagum.”
