As the National Schools Maintenance Week (NSMW) known as Brigada Eskwela 2008 kicks off last June 2, 2008, Tagum City joins in sprucing up their respective schools for the upcoming classes this June 10.
This weeklong cleaning up was launched by the Department of Education in order to prepare their classrooms and the surrounding of the school campus for the convenience of the students. This will end up to June 8 of this year wherein the combined forces of the parents, teachers, and students as well as the members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines were also present.

The city government is intensifying its information drive against micro-nutrient problem with the passage of an ordinance compelling businessmen to sell iron fortified food amidst the continuing increase in the city's rice prices. City Councilor De Carlo L. Uy said the city government's iron-fortified rice program aimed at solving the micro-nutrient deficiency problem that is common among children in Tagum City. Uy, however, admitted they would encounter difficulties in implementing the program with recent issue on soaring increase of prime commodities particularly on commercial rice.

A zoo is a place where wild animals are kept and are afforded the chance to see human beings in their natural habitat. Incredibly there is one city in this country, perhaps the only city, where wild animals in their not-so-natural habitat and human beings get to see each other albeit from a safe distance.
