Name
Kalinawa is a Tinggian word meaning wellness or success. As much as it is something to which we aspire, it is also a word expressing an existing state. When one says "Na kalinawaak", it is a statement of relief. Thus, it captures both the goal for the Foundation and the acknowledgement of the position from which the Foundation begins its work. Ayeen Baroña, from Lacub, Abra, the Administrative Officer for Knight Capital, made this very useful and insightful suggestion.
Celebration of The Art
KALINAWA ART FOUNDATION facilitates Visual Fine Art Shows and Auctions from the communities of the artists. These shows are Celebrations of the Art and provide opportunities for Indigenous People to earn a better living with their talents. The artists who win the competitions will advance until a National Indigenous Peoples’ Art Show Winner is declared.
'Birth' was selected as the Foundation's Logo after a logo competition was held at the First Art Show in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. Knight Capital sponsored the Logo Competition and Art Show.

Indigenous Peoples' Art
The Visual Fine Art of the Indigenous Peoples in the Philippines plays an important role in their life and culture. We understand that art provides a means of cultural expression and pride that can be shared and transported worldwide. The Kalinawa Art Foundation provides a facility to promote the talent of the artists and their art as a celebration of culture and heritage.
The Foundation
Kalinawa Art Foundation, a non-profit organization, is dedicated to bringing the finest Indigenous Peoples’ Art of the Philippines to your computer and the world. Founded by executive professionals from the private sector who share a passion for fine arts and see need to facilitate cultural understanding, the Foundation seeks to provide an opportunity to recognize artists’ talents and a means for the artists’ self improvement. Even though we are a private foundation, we encourage sponsorship so others can assist in supporting our mission.
