Councilor Francisco C. Remitar, in partnership
with Councilors Robert L. So and Ernesto Y. Obero, merged a substantial
amount from their SRA-MBN allocation and purchased two sets of
TV and DVD for the special education of the Hearing Impaired students
in the City of Tagum. The project was materialized to help specially
those who have physical disabilities.
The schooling for the Hearing Impaired is one of the Special
Education (SPED) Programs under the Department of Education.
The Magugpo Pilot Imelda Elementary School started the course
some time in 1999, the first in the Province of Davao del Norte,
and had produced 13 graduates in the primary level last 2006.
Five of those students are now studying in Davao City and the
other eight are now currently at the Tagum City National High
School which has just launched its first batch of learners on
June 8, 2007.
It was during the launching of the first batch for the secondary
level, where the set of TV and DVD was turned-over and was witnessed
by most of the populace of the school. Coun. Remitar was elated
seeing the enthusiasm, both of the mentors to teach, and the
participants to learn even of their situation.
