Coun. Millan acts on the titling of the different school sites

By: Rea Karen P. Joseph

Hon. Raymond Joey D. Millan sponsored separate Resolutions, Nos. 611, 612, 613 and 614, all series of 2007. It involves waiver of rights which the City Government of Tagum would waive in favour of the Department of Education.
The respective parcels of land which now form as school site of the following schools, New Balamban Elementary School, covered by Lot No. 6125, CSD-1378 containing a total land area of 23,595 sq. meters, Nueva Fuerza Elementary School, covered by Lot No. 6047, CSD-1378 containing a total area of 17,552.22 sq. meters, Mankilam Elementary School, covered by Lot No. 759-B, CSD-9503-D containing a total land area of 10,000 sq. meters and San Agustin Elementary School, covered by Lot No. 6086, CSD-1378 containing a total land area of 21, 282.95 sq. meters.
These properties are not yet titled in the name of the City, instead of a deed of donation or a deed of sale for that matter, the City would like to execute through our beloved Mayor Rey T. Uy a waiver of rights.
After a thorough discussion happened during the question hour last March 19, 2007, participated in by the different school administrators and principals of the four schools mentioned above, they are convinced and believed in the noble intention of Coun. Millan in proposing such local law. In return, he got the full support of his colleagues in the City Council and was passed also during that day on its second and final reading.
These four resolutions involve the bill of rights between the City Government of Tagum and the Department of Education. As such, a national program of the Department of Education require the titling of school under its name.
The good catch is, even if the school has transferred its property in the name of the Department of Education, the City Government of Tagum can still provide infrastructure projects and extend its educational assistance.
These four schools have initially complied with all the requirements. Coun. Millan is trying his best to act with schools having a pending application for titling and implement the said program to avoid any problem in the future.
