| The
Local Government Unit of Tagum has always been responsive to the
various needs of Tagumeños in terms of providing educational
opportunities to the less fortunate. Sulong-Dunong Educational
Assistance, CESPRO, SPES, Alternative Learning System and Project
REY are several of the various educational programs which have
been initiated and implemented by our City to open opportunities
for our determined and deserving pupils and students who do not
have sufficient means for schooling.
The concern on education has urged City Vice Mayor Allan L. Rellon
in providing assistance and support for the cause of bringing
forth and making better the educational scenario in the locale
is always consistent. Even before VM Rellon has been elected as
Vice Mayor for the Second Term, he has always proved himself persevering
when it comes to matters that would bring education to every Tagumeños'
household especially the marginalized sector of our society. |

As a matter of fact, a considerable percentage of his Social Reform
Agenda-Minimum Basic Needs Allocation (SRA-MBN) was allocated
for his Sulong-Dunong Program. For two years now, more than a
hundred indigent pupils and students were able to settle their
accounts in their respective schools due to this program. A number
of schools have already been granted with various educational
aid and equipments such as Mimeographing Machine, DVD Players,
Television Sets, Computer Sets, Curtains and even school supplies.
This school year, though the LGU has already provided for the
enrollment of their children, our indigent families still faced
the dilemma on where they will get the money for the school supplies
of their pupils and students. Noticeably, Vice Mayor Rellon has
once again allocated part of his budget to augment the need of
our indigent families for educational assistance.
Elementary pupils and secondary students coming from 23 barangays
of Tagum were able to avail of several school supplies given by
the Office of Vice Mayor Rellon before the opening of this school
year.
