Last July 2, 2007 at 5:30 p.m., the City Government of Tagum experienced heavy rains and strong winds. Unfortunately, few families were affected when an uprooted trees hit their respective houses to wit; Marevil A. Macasalo, Ramon N. Monteverde, Wilma Q. Andoy of Purok 7, Barangay Apokon and Elsie G. Cervo of Purok Talisay, Barangay East.

The said families were saddened by the unexpected calamity which affected their daily living, but such scenario didn't take long because the City Government of Tagum thru the City Mayor, Hon. Rey T. Uy and the Action Officer of the City Disaster Coordinating Council (CDCC) Hon. Robert "Tete", So extended the financial assistance to the affected families using the allocated "Quick Respond Fund". Below are the specified amount each family received, Marevil A. Macasalo 5,000.00, Ramon N. Monteverde 2,000.00, Wilma Q. Andoy 2,000.00 all from Purok 7, Barangay Apokon and Elsie G. Cervo 5,000.00 of Purok Talisay, Barangay Magugpo East.

With the financial assistance they received, the affected families were grateful. For them, the amount is a big help to restore ravaged shelters.
