Historical Background:
According to some historian in the barangay particularly those elder people says that in the year 1941 when the World War II was declared, the place was called “Binakawan”. Sitio Kasilak formerly called “Pinulwan” and now as a whole barangay of San Agustin. By that time Bangkaylan Mr. And Mrs. Sido Diguinon and family, a Visayan tribe lives the place.
In the year 1945 the Second World War II ended and that was the time that they were able to return the place. Many families followed and there were one hundred twelve (112) more or less native houses constructed.
In the year 1950’s Mr. Antonio Labastida created the barangay New Balamban and Binakawan was their Sitio. AS years passed by, many Boholano’s people arrived and acquired those lands sold at very low price. Mr. Sabino Catcha surveyed Binakawan and Pinulwan to organize the people into a barangay. San Agustin was chosen because it is their Patron saints in Bohol. Thus, the place is called San Agustin.
