City of Tagum, the capital of the province of Davao del Norte was officially created into a component city on March 7, 1998. Situated 55 kilometers north of Davao City, it is one of the fastest growing cities in Region XI. It has a total land area of 19,580 hectares. In a study conducted by the Asian Institute of Management, Tagum was ranked among the 20 most viable component cities to do business in the country.

The recent graduation ceremony of the Alternative Learning System (ALS) in Tagum City was truly a sight to behold: learners all dressed in white togas, each one wearing a smile as they received their certificate of completion signed no less than the secretary of the Department of Education.
City of Tagum, Davao del Norte – Six hundred ninety four (694) learners of the Community Skills Training Program (CSTP) initiated by the Local Government of Tagum graduated last May 5, 2013 at Visayan Village Gymnasium, Tagum City with the theme “Garantisado ug Kwalipikado nga Mamumuo, Bunga sa Maayo ug Seryoso nga Panerbisyo.”
